Today's First Half Goals predictions — Over/Under 0.5 and 1.5 tips.
First Half Goals is a football betting market based exclusively on goals scored in the opening 45 minutes of a match. The second half, full-time result and which team scores are all irrelevant — only the total number of goals before the half-time whistle matters. The most common lines are Over/Under 0.5 (does at least one goal land before half-time?) and Over/Under 1.5 (do at least two goals land before half-time?). Every pick on this page is built from first-half specific goal data, not full-match averages.
Over 0.5 First Half Goals vs Over 1.5
Over 0.5 First Half Goals is the simpler line — it wins if any goal is scored before half-time. In top European leagues, roughly 58–65% of matches produce at least one first-half goal, making Over 0.5 a market that typically settles near evens. Over 1.5 requires two or more first-half goals and is harder to land — it occurs in approximately 28–38% of matches depending on the league and fixture. We use Over 1.5 picks selectively, only for fixtures where both teams have strong first-half scoring records and the H2H shows a history of early goals.
How we pick First Half Goals predictions
First half goal predictions use first-half specific data rather than full-match averages. The inputs are: each team's first-half goals scored and conceded per game at the relevant venue, the proportion of their recent matches that produced at least one or two first-half goals, and H2H first-half goal frequencies between the two sides. Full-match xG is less useful here than first-half xG, because some teams front-load their attacking intensity early in matches while others build gradually. Tactical context matters too — high-press setups, early substitution tendencies and teams under must-win pressure often shift first-half scoring rates.
First Half Goals vs full-match Over/Under
First Half Goals and full-match Over/Under use the same goal-count logic but apply to different time windows. A match that produces no first-half goals but finishes 2-1 is Under 0.5 First Half Goals and Over 2.5 Goals. The two markets can diverge significantly — and that divergence is often where value sits. When a match is expected to be high-scoring full-match but slow-starting, Under 0.5 First Half combined with Over 2.5 full-match is a coherent position. When a match is expected to start fast regardless of total goals, Over 0.5 First Half can be the cleaner entry than an Over 2.5 full-match pick.
